Michelle Williams for Louis Vuitton

WOW, just wow! How good does Michelle Williams look as the new face of Louis Vuitton Handbags for AW13?  This is definitely one of my favourite celebrity collaborations ever!  The colours and tone of the images shot by Peter Lindbergh are so deep and seductive; who wouldn’t want to be a Louis V girl when they look like that?

In Vogue and In Love – Skateboarding

Recently I have developed a new found love for Skateboarding! Random and definitely something I should have been into circa 2002 age 14, but for some reason Skateboarding mesmerises me; I am totally baffled by that sort of one legged coordination!  It maybe also has something to do with the fact that skateboarding is totally in vogue and has been for the past few seasons. Jayne Min of top blog STOP IT RIGHT NOW lead the revolution after deciding to experiment merging fashion and skateboarding.  Min decided to apply the iconic Celine SS12 print to the underneath of a limited number of boards (See images) – the effect was amazing and several other designer collaborations followed including Alexander Wang, DVF and Tory Burch to name a few.  As the trend has filtered down from the runway and onto the streets; Beanies, drop crotch jeans, vans, retro sports gear, amongst other items have become everyday pieces.  The various shoots inspired by ‘boarding’ make me wish I was a cool Californian girl, skateboarding along the pier in the summer sun on my Celine skateboard – If I tried now, I’d look like an idiot but hey, at least I’d be a stylish one!

Edie Campbell’s Season

Could it be the dramatic new hair cut or are insiders simply wanting to be one step ahead of the Cara craze?  Whatever it is, on closer inspection the modelling world has and still is being dominated by another young Brit….step forward Edie Campbell!  Since 2011, Edie has been shooting seasonal campaigns for Burberry, her face has been seen on many a catwalk and even featured in Hedi Slimane’s first campaign for Saint Laurent.  However this year has seen Campbell chop off her strawberry blonde locks in favour of a choppy (almost mullet like) black crop; moving out of the shadows and firmly into the fashion spotlight!  It seems the whole industry has taken note and watched this girl morph from the perfectly sweet, doe eyed, sixties inspired dolly girl to an edgy, raw, cool 22 year old.  Campbell opened AW13 shows for influential brands such as Marc Jacobs, Jill Sander, Louis Vuitton and Burberry, not something to be taken lightly.  Soon you won’t be able to miss Edie as she is the new star of AW13 campaigns for Lanvin, Jill Sander and Marc Jacobs!!  It really is Edie Campbell’s season, get in girl!!

Freja – Back to Her Best

Since her first starring role in the Gucci by Gucci fragrance campaign, I have been slightly obsessed with Danish model Freja Beha Erichsen!! From long to short hair, her look inspired designers and made her the iconic model of the last 5 years.  However, recently, perhaps over the last 2-3 seasons, she seems to have disappeared from the limelight….that is until now!!  Freja is back, and obviously being a lot more selective with her work.  Savvy choices see her staring in the iconic new Saint Laurent and Prada campaigns and man, does she looks good….that girls still got it!!!  Freja has reaffirmed her position as the definition of cool and she doesn’t need an Instagram account to prove it….move over Cara and let a pro show you how its done!!

Armani Privé Couture AW13

When I think of the Giorgio Armani client I automatically think of a lady, class, decadence and pure style.  She doesn’t just own one piece of Armani, her entire wardrobe is Armani; her life is one of society balls and endless champagne. Glamourous yet elegant, sexy yet vulnerable, every man and woman’s dream.  This was the woman we were presented with at this weeks Armani Privé AW13 Couture show.

From the start the scene was set – the models hair tied up in loose retro curls, soft around the face with bare minimal makeup but for a rose tinted lip and strong brow.  We had been taken back to old school Hollywood, The Great Gatsby era with its soft tailoring in the lightest pink/peach hue, sweet fur neckerchief’s, and rose pearl collars.

Gradually the Armani woman became sexier and more modern introducing daring black tulle see through tops matched with billowing evening trousers which I for one would die for!  Heavier duty accessories were introduced, door-knocker earrings and double cuff’s, taking the edge off some of the more twee ensembles.  As the collection continued the colour pallet became lighter and lighter, until it was quite literally Nude….beautiful.  My favourite pieces included the tiered, tulle skirted dresses with slinky tops; styled to perfection with strong yet minimal jewellery – just divine!

Armani doesn’t always produce a collection I take notice of, but this couture offering is hard to forget.  I’m sure there were more than a few special clients taking note for potential day tailoring, evening gowns and wedding dresses.  The collection for me was unadulterated perfection, stylish and classy.  After all this is couture, Armani at his best.
