Beauty goes BRIGHT

Staying in on a Friday can be boring, Design Scene is always a good place to waste time looking at all things fashion.  Tonight I came across a shoot for July’s edition of Marie Claire China shot by Oscar Cecere and styled by Riccardo Linarello, the ‘Aquababy’ shot explores the new sport chic swimwear that is quickly becoming the trend of the season.  However it wasn’t the fashion that caught my eye, it was the amazing make up by Augusto Picerni; colourful, vibrant, contrasting and just really really unique and eye catching.  I especially love the idea of a colourful brow……

Holiday Wardrobe

The perfect holiday wardrobe can be a hard thing to master.  How many bikinis can you cram in, is colour and pattern key or a cooling, neutral pallet the solution?  How do I tan in my high waisted bikini bottoms and so on and so on….When dreaming of the perfect holiday setting, not many places beat Italy, therefore it is no surprise that upcoming Italian designer – Stella Jean has created the most enviable holiday wardrobe going!  Just as it did on the SS14 Catwalk, the pattern, colour, vibrancy and drama of the S/S14 shoot brought…..Gorgeous!!

Fashion Moves into London

For as long as I can remember fashion has been more than just designing amazing clothes or even catwalk shows.  To ensure a customer for life, brands have to sell a lifestyle, an attitude and overall an identity.  Nothing expresses this more than the brands store which could be online or bricks and mortar.  Take for instance Burberry and Gucci, both leading fashion brands with incredibly accessible, interactive and creative web stores however I still enjoy a good old fashioned shop, boutique, store whatever you call it; there is nothing better than walking through a store surrounded by all the things you love about that specific brand or concept.  Perhaps this is why London has recently seen an influx of brand spanking new stores for us to explore!!  From Celine to JCrew, Karl Largerfeld to Christopher Kane, London is brimming with amazing new spaces by the World’s leading names!  With some just open and others to come, I think its necessary to don those new Nike’s (comfort first) and get shopping…..

Dancing Queen

After becoming strangely obsessed with this years Strictly Come Dancing I was Abbey Clancy and her partner Aljaz Skorjanec’s biggest fan!  Week after week, as well as dancing amazingly; Abbey looked incredible (Aljaz didn’t look bad either!) so I thought it only right to celebrate the show and one of the best things about it – those amazing dresses…secretly everyone wants one!!!!

In Vogue and In Love – Skateboarding

Recently I have developed a new found love for Skateboarding! Random and definitely something I should have been into circa 2002 age 14, but for some reason Skateboarding mesmerises me; I am totally baffled by that sort of one legged coordination!  It maybe also has something to do with the fact that skateboarding is totally in vogue and has been for the past few seasons. Jayne Min of top blog STOP IT RIGHT NOW lead the revolution after deciding to experiment merging fashion and skateboarding.  Min decided to apply the iconic Celine SS12 print to the underneath of a limited number of boards (See images) – the effect was amazing and several other designer collaborations followed including Alexander Wang, DVF and Tory Burch to name a few.  As the trend has filtered down from the runway and onto the streets; Beanies, drop crotch jeans, vans, retro sports gear, amongst other items have become everyday pieces.  The various shoots inspired by ‘boarding’ make me wish I was a cool Californian girl, skateboarding along the pier in the summer sun on my Celine skateboard – If I tried now, I’d look like an idiot but hey, at least I’d be a stylish one!

Solange’s Summer

There is one artist I cannot wait to see hanging around the festivals this year and that is (in my opinion) a lady that defines ‘cool’; one of the most unique and stylish figures of recent years….Solange Knowles!  Not only is her Tune ‘Loosing You’ one my favourite songs and videos Ever but her style is literally to die for.  Most recently she rocked Field Day Festival in a monochrome trouser suit that most would find impossible to pull off.  In fact her colourful, pattern heavy, clashing outfits would look too try hard on anyone else, but she is just too cool and always looks effortlessly chic!!  Check out her blog MyDamnBlog, one look at the images of her friends hanging out, her band chilling and most importantly her wardrobe and you just want to be in her gang!!  Maybe, if I donned an AW12 Prada trouser suit she would let me join in….please?!

Halloween Inspiration

My absolute favourite ‘holiday’ is upon us, Halloween!!!!  Old Hallows Eve gets me all goose-pimply, not with horry but with excitment for the night ahead!  This year we have another party to go to and I for one cannot wait, fancy dress is only ever cool on Halloween; just look at the AW12 Marc Jacobs collection and you’llsoon be geared up for a night of bewitching***

No surprise then where my outfit inspiration has come from this year?  I’ve bought a wicked (in both senses) deep violet hat, similar to the colours seen in the Marc Jacobs AW12 colllection.

Everything about the collection, from the pilgrim buckled shoes to the thick, scruffy knits topped off with the creepy velvet hats – screams Halloween!!  I will be paying special attention to the heavily applied kitsch make-up!

Thank you Marc for making this years Halloween a fashionable one!
