Nothing but a pair of 3.1 Phillip Lim Sunglasses (and a cute bucket hat)….That’s how she rolls – Rhianna for Lui Magazine ….
The perfect holiday wardrobe can be a hard thing to master. How many bikinis can you cram in, is colour and pattern key or a cooling, neutral pallet the solution? How do I tan in my high waisted bikini bottoms and so on and so on….When dreaming of the perfect holiday setting, not many places beat Italy, therefore it is no surprise that upcoming Italian designer – Stella Jean has created the most enviable holiday wardrobe going! Just as it did on the SS14 Catwalk, the pattern, colour, vibrancy and drama of the S/S14 shoot brought…..Gorgeous!!
Finally the sun is shinning in London!! Just enough to justify my favourite new pair of vintage shorts, feeling summery!!
Men’s Collections London is quickly becoming one of the most influential Menswear weeks of the year! Burberry returned from Milan and newcomers such as JW Anderson created one of Men’s Collections most high profile weeks to date. On the catwalk, colour was one of the key trends from strong primary’s to summery pastels, sketched graphics seen at Christopher Kane were also popular and designers such as Jonathan Saunders continued to push boundaries with unique fabrics. However, it wasn’t just the catwalk that attracted attention, from Florence to London and Milan; the menswear street chic on show was unmissable. Tommy Ton amongst others, captured everything from dapper suits, to the chiselled models and the women literally rocking the ‘boy meets girl’ trend……Apparently Menswear really is where it’s at!

There is one artist I cannot wait to see hanging around the festivals this year and that is (in my opinion) a lady that defines ‘cool’; one of the most unique and stylish figures of recent years….Solange Knowles! Not only is her Tune ‘Loosing You’ one my favourite songs and videos Ever but her style is literally to die for. Most recently she rocked Field Day Festival in a monochrome trouser suit that most would find impossible to pull off. In fact her colourful, pattern heavy, clashing outfits would look too try hard on anyone else, but she is just too cool and always looks effortlessly chic!! Check out her blog MyDamnBlog, one look at the images of her friends hanging out, her band chilling and most importantly her wardrobe and you just want to be in her gang!! Maybe, if I donned an AW12 Prada trouser suit she would let me join in….please?!
Summer is finally here and what better way to celebrate than reaching for your SS13 prints!! Basso&Brooke are leaders in this field and this season their genius is expressed in the form of the baseball cap! From colourful florals to hand drawn sketching, these prints are on another level; never have I lusted after a cap….until now!!
Already there seems an obvious theme is emerging from the S/S13 Menswear shows. With designers moving away from the norm to really test their audiences, the need to shock and shake it up is evident; Christopher Bailey proved this yesterday with the latest Burberry Prorsum Menswear collection.
Like various designers such as JW Anderson earlier in the week, Burberry showcased classic menswear with a metallic, fluorescent overlay; breaking the mold and moving on from the sheer craftsmanship of A/W12. However where (unfortunately) JW Anderson slipped into unwearable territory; Bailey produced what I’m sure will become iconic leather and silk bomber jackets, shirts, cardigans and ties in colours David Bowie would be proud of. In fact the cool 70’s vibe was secured when the first bomber jacket came down the catwalk, and I’m sure instantly sold out. The muted, retro prints that covered shirts, bomber’s and eventually trench coats added that quirky vibe Burberry Menswear is becoming known for.
A true show of British class mixed with effortless cool and 70’s metallics that I for one, cannot wait to see the boys channelling come S/S13!
