Gisele for Balenciaga

Is there anything can’t do?  Super model, mother, wife, United Nations Good Will Ambasador, Actress, Yoga devotee, Producer, Victoria’s Secrets Angel and now the new face of Balenciaga AW14! ! Balenciaga doesn’t exactly need a huge campaign (it’s pretty big already you know) in fact all that’s necessary is a stunning Gisele and a fierce looking crop….Stunning!

Fashion comes Home for SS14

Paris is the home of fashion, this has never been as true as it is now.  I wasn’t sure if anyone could take anymore after the departure of Marc Jacobs from Louis Vuitton was announced, the anticipation for his last show was enough to send even Anna Wintour (well, maybe) into a frenzy!  Yet Chanel was to come and Karl Lagerfeld is not upstaged easily.  For me, this Chanel collection could have been staged in a tip and the clothes would have looked as breathtaking as ever; however in true KL style the Grand Palais was whitewashed and turned into a modern art hanger with over 75 life size pieces of ‘Artwork’ (designed by the one and only) lining the catwalk.  You couldn’t help but think about the ever potent question; is fashion art?  If this man’s creations aren’t worthy of the art world then I don’t know what is.  This collection was one of the best seasons Chanel has had for a while; breathtaking yes but also wearable, it had it all!!  This year Wang took Balenciaga and whipped up something that was noticeably Wang but still oozed Parisien chic with a Balenciaga attitude! Heremes and Dior were both in full bloom with florals leading the way in an oversized print as well as our old friend snakeskin adding an extra kick to trims and accessories; Miu Miu finished off the epic week with a sickly sweet presentation of pastel colours and swinging 60’s pea coats.  Too much to write about all in one, the pictures will do the talking:

Paris AW13 RTW

And so to the final AW13 fashion week, Paris was as au-inspiring as always, the fashion pack were out in force looking fabulous and as the Chanel show set represented, fashion or at least Chanel is now a dominating force in every corner of the globe – perhaps the World does revolve around fashion after all?  In Paris, you wouldn’t be far wrong; seas of beanies and round sunglasses, sculptured Rupert Sandserdon shoes galore and a whole load of Celine coats adorned the pavements.  Luckily the glamour outside was matched inside as the likes of Celine, Dior, Chanel, Saint Laurent, Chloe, Balenciaga, Valentino…to name but a few, all delivered, some were even the best ever!

Wrapping up 2012…

2012!! It’s flown by and I am struggling to remember key factors!  Already we’ve seen the pre AW13 collections, we are currently working on the AW13 shows and looking forward to SS14! Fashion; it moves fast, so you better keep up! Once I took a minute to think, how could I really forget?  Here is a round up of my best bits of 2012:

From space age materials at Balenciaga to the retro 90’s sweatshirt comeback at Kenzo; microtrends ruled and fashion was suddenly fun again!!  The Gucci fedoras and Louis V hand-cuff’s of AW were packed away and we were ready to go head to toe in print by the new Queen of LFW Mary Katrantzou followed by dinner in our oh so chic pyjama suit!  Needless to say it was another Fabulously Fashionable year and one that will go down in history for the ‘New Era’ beginnings at the newly named Saint Laurent, Christian Dior and most recently Balenciaga.

So long 2012……

Strong Motif’s made a comeback and with them wardrobe staples you couldn’t miss:

Branded LtoR: The Givenchy Dog, Balenciaga Space Age and Kenzo Tiger

I literally feel lost without a ridiculous amount of rings, all day, every day.  Luckily, Phoebe Philo seemed to agree….

No Sweat

Possibly one of the easiest trends on the A/W12 catwalks was the good old fashioned sweatshirt!  From 90’s ‘Saved by the Bell’ style at Kenzo to impressive sculptured pieces from Balenciaga; topped off by one of the most covertable items of the season – the Balmain embroidered sweatshirt, the optimum of understated chic.  With pieces like this on offer, there should be no excuses this season….
