Pre SS15

The recent coming together of Jeremy Scott and Moschino is proving to be one of the most exciting partnerships in years.  After showing his recent SS15 pre collection, Scott has secured his head of design role at the brand and really shown everyone what he can do!  By staying true to himself and his kitsch aesthetic, whilst also keeping the essence of Moschino in mind, Scott has produced another killer pre collection.  Capturing the current love of the 90’s as well as the street vibe championed by fashion darlings from Cara to Kristen, this collection is a certain sell out – perhaps minus the Miley Cyrus string vest two piece and a few of the random neckerchief numbers!  This pre AW is a time to have fun with fashion – top of my wish list?  The mini Moschino IPhone case of course!!

Comfortably Couture

I can’t think of a past moment in time where the lines between fashion and functionality were so blurred.  I didn’t think it got more practical than Ashish’s SS14 take on the plastic bag, a Marks and Spencer plastic carrier bag to be precise;  apparently I was wrong.  Step forward (in a very comfortable trainer) please Chanel – who else could send all 64 Spring 2014 Couture looks down the Couture catwalk in trainers?!  It wasn’t just trainers either, there were bum-bags, knee pads and one of my favourite accessories of the last few years, the rucksack; all with a couture esk make over, Amazing!  SS14 here we come in our sensible and extremely comfy trainers with our Birkinstock’s reserved for the sun, our knee length skirts barley showing our knees and a cheeky boiler suit for nights out.  Practicality here we come and we look good…

If there’s one name I wouldn’t mind being plastered all over me, it would be the amazing ‘Alexander Wang’.  Lucky for me, his latest offering does just that.  Featuring laser-cut leather gloves and trench coats etching out ALEXANDER WANG;, the … Continue reading

Pinafore Watch

Wanted – Topshop Boutique Leather Pinafore.  Pinafore’s can have both good or bad connotations dependant on your experience of them at school; luckily mine happen to be all good and I cannot resist the perfect wardrobe staple.  Step forward Topshop who have yet again delivered with a variety of on-trend options.  They have, in fact outdone themselves this year with the best selection of pinafore’s I’ve seen since my mum came back from the school shop with one in each colour!  Easy and chic, smart or casual; whatever you fancy a pinafore will fit the bill, perfect for Christmas day perhaps.

However, beware: No one wants to look like an extra from St Trinian’s….A pair of clumpy (preferably MiuMiu) boots, chic polo-neck, statement bomber and little beanie (for added warmth) will ensure you look more fashion cool than fashion school!!

Accessories Trending

So much time has past it only seemed right to refresh my memory with the main trends of the current Fashion Season – on and off the catwalk.  One of the most under the radar, emerging trends seems to be focusing on Accessories.  In other terms we have seen a come back of the perspex bag, the bag that shows your goods off the the nation but at the same time looks surprisingly sleek, fresh and so totally SS13!  Everyone’s doing it…

No Sweat

Possibly one of the easiest trends on the A/W12 catwalks was the good old fashioned sweatshirt!  From 90’s ‘Saved by the Bell’ style at Kenzo to impressive sculptured pieces from Balenciaga; topped off by one of the most covertable items of the season – the Balmain embroidered sweatshirt, the optimum of understated chic.  With pieces like this on offer, there should be no excuses this season….

Camouflage Me

Spotted…..it’s creeping up on us yet again – CAMOUFLAGE.  Yep, it’s that familiar print that intermittently moves from the battle field to the catwalk – notably in a more fashionable form than any army overalls I’ve ever seen!  It’s no surprise, after the overwhelming presence of the Military theme seen on Men’s and Women’s A/W12 catwalks.  If you need proof look no further – the streets have already seen the classic camouflage jacket. However, come autumn perhaps try a softer approach; think moss greens, deep maroon and dusky grey, relax in your tailoring, add quirky accessories and don’t forget to polish those (knee high) boots!
